Hi, my name is Jax and I live in the Netherlands (which has nothing to with and is not even close to Copenhagen by the way) .
I have been developing web applications for well over a decade now. To do so I use (or have used) (or sometimes still use) Coldfusion, Java, JavaScript, a bunch of frameworks like Mootools, Transfer, Model Glue, Farcry, ColdSpring and Dojo. In no particular order and hardly ever all at once.
I have always kept clear from blogging myself in the past because I figured there's enough blogblahblah out there already. Recently however, I was asked to throw a website together and used Ray Camden's BlogCFC in order to do so. I ended up writing a plug-in for blogCFC before the actual site was up and running and, since I have some other tools and stuff I wrote that I want to share with the world, decided I could use a website to post it on.
I had a nice domain (schildmos.nl, more about that later) that I never really used, and hey presto.. this website was born. Messed about for a few hours with blogcfc, picked a nice theme and dubbed the whole thing:
SCHILDMOS 2.0 beta
Cause I'm a sucker for twopointoh's and beta's.
Why in the hell 'schildmos' as a name you ask?
The name Schildmos has to do with where I live. That's all.
Schildmos actually is a type of lichen, and lichen are symbiotic associations of a fungus (the mycobiont) with a photosynthetic partner (the photobiont also known as the phycobiont) that can produce food for the lichen from sunlight.
(according to Wikipedia)
Images of schildmos (scientific name: Parmelia sulcata) are used in this blogs slideshowMenu.
They are usually found on trees, like so:

When I am not sitting behind a computer I like to fish. At sea in Norway preferably. :-)
I also like photography.
